Profesional floor sanders with experience, together with some, even tricky stuff can make the filler match the natural color of the wood. The kind of wood and the the stain to be used , also count for the filler to match the wood floor natural color .There is wood filler already made for some kinds of wood like red oak , you would buy red oak filler and it will match almost perfect, but other woods are not easy to match

, in such cases you mix some dust from the wood with a liquid chemical and it will match the wood. One example, imagine we have a pine floor and the stain to be used is a dark one, then the filler to be used is nothing to be worried about , since the dark stain will help a lot to make them match. The wood is dark and the filler will be also dark, you could notice the difference of course , the wood is natural, the filler isn’t , but not like in this video.

Sometimes, when you sand and finish a floor, the gaps and joints were already filled up with wood filler when it was finished the first time and there is no way to take the filler out.If you try to do it by hand, by digging it out, it means lots , lots of work and also may damage the edges of the wood, so we decide to leave it the way it is and try to make it look as good as possible.Another thing is that some people don’t use the rigth filler and it doesn’t match the wood.

The floor, is also a ceiling. The ceiling was painted white. The white paint (many years worth) was blasted off. The paint in the cracks between the boards couldn’t be removed. This is historic wood circa 1760. No filler was used.

Again, NO filler was used.

whats up with the white in the joints? is it bare wood or the finish streaching?

Keyashii February 17, 2010 at 10:02 pm

SeeDirtRun February 17, 2010 at 10:02 pm
